In 1931, the Addington Children’s Hospital – the first of its kind in Africa – was specifically created to provide for the care and treatment of all children. In 1984, the apartheid government closed it down. In 2010 the name of the hospital was changed to the KwaZulu-Natal Children’s Hospital and the re-establishment project was formed to re-ignite the dream of providing accessible health care to all children of the province.
